Jonas Knetsch is a Professor at Paris 1 University and member of the Centre de Recherches Critiques sur le Droit since September 2017.

Before his PhD in comparative tort law, he graduated from the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris, France) and from the University of Cologne (Germany). Jonas Knetsch has been senior lecturer at the University Panthéon-Assas (2012/13) before being appointed full professor in 2013 following his success in the concours d’agrégation in private law. From 2013 to 2017, he held a professorship at the University of Reunion Island where he was largely involved in developing international relations with universities in the Comoros, in Madagascar, Mauritius and Mozambique. In Saint-Étienne he is affiliated with the CERCRID research group on Production and Interaction of Legal Norms.

Jonas Knetsch has published extensively in tort and insurance law as well as in private international and comparative law. Lately, he has conducted research projects on tort law and insurance law issues related to self-driving cars and on the interplay of social security, private insurance and tort law compensation.
